As part of the Mayor's policy to improve young people's access to education, sport and leisure activities throughout the Capital, with effect from Sunday 2nd April, up to 4 children under 11 years of age will be allowed free travel on London Underground and Docklands Light Railway services when accompanied by an adult (aged over 18) travelling with a valid ticket or Travelcard. This facility is also available on National Rail services on designated 'inter-available' routes. Details are as follow:- Up to 4 children aged under 11 must be accompanied by an adult (i.e. anyone aged over 18) including holders of TfL Student Photocards & New Deal Photocards) with - Any valid London Underground/Docklands Light Railway adult paper ticket or Travelcard issued on Oyster. Any valid Day or longer period Travelcard. Oyster Pre Pay (Pay-As-You-Go) - but see below for exceptions* A valid Freedom Pass. Free travel is available from 0930 on weekdays and all day at weekends and on public holidays, on all London Underground and Docklands Light Railway services, and on National Rail services between the following stations on designated 'inter-available' routes:- Amersham and Marylebone Finsbury Park and Kings Cross / Moorgate Kentish Town and Moorgate / Elephant & Castle / London Bridge Kenton and Euston (but not for entry/exit at Kilburn High Road or South Hampstead) Liverpool Street and Seven Sisters / Tottenham Hale / Walthamstow Central (but not at intermediate stations) Richmond and North Woolwich (via North London Line) [*but only between Richmond and Gunnersbury and between Stratford and Canning Town for Pay-As-You-Go]. Stratford and Liverpool Street Upminster and Fenchurch Street / Liverpool Street (via Barking) but not for entry/exit at Forest Gate or Maryland West Brompton and Willesden Junction [*but not for Pay-As-You-Go]. West Ruislip and South Ruislip Additional Notes 'Free' children will not require tickets and should be allowed through gates/side gates as necessary. The accompanying adult should use gates in the normal way and if using Oyster, touch in and out. Each adult Travelcard holder can take up to 4 under 11's for free, and up to four 11-15 year olds for a £1.00 flat fare All Zones day Travelcard. No photocards are required by any accompanied children either free or paid for.
